Samar Da'r Biryani

I will say apart from the biryani nothing is good there. Everything is confusing there for first time visitor. People like eating on the same place washing hands on the tree trunk.
Not a lot of space to sit and the owner will tell u where u can sit or where u can't. Like he was rude to a old lady coz she kept her plate on a sitting area where apprently she was not supposed to sit (according to the owner). Also hygiene is take cared about like my he touched the same piece of mutton on a plate so many times that it got tenderised on the spot. (Coz he was not sure about the piece was his desire size of a half plate mutton biryani). Also the plates of the half biryani was soo small we have to eat so carefully as to not spill it on the sidewalk.
He talks a lot while plating the food u know what I mean.
Service is slow and place is crowded. Coz only one person is serving the food and the lady is just there walking there aimlessly occasionally talking money and arranging delivery package. Also there are two like for those who r there for take away and dine in.
About the food, it's cheap and tasty but the hygiene should be take care off.
Mutton biryani half/full - ₹100/₹170.
Chicken biryani half/full- ₹90/ idk
No eggs and no chaap

Mutton was tender and warm. Very good amount of rice and large potato. Complete with cucumber salad and green chilly.

They don't have online payment not even the shop opposite to the stall. So carry some cash.

I've never had a better biryani than this. For some vloggers, Dada is still alive, otherwise it would have been a breeze

At Rs. 170 nobody can expect arsalan taste. But still it doesn’t taste good. At 190 we get biryani of better taste & comparatively big size meat in our locality. It's Over hyped by some so called "food bloggers''. No offence.

Absolutely ridiculous. Idk why he is so famous. It tastes like dirt. Its not even cheap. He is just hyped bcz of vloggers. He doesn't deserve it. He even serves so slow and there is a long line for it which seems still. Its bad dont even care to go.

A clear case of the downfall of Samar da’s biryani. I used to have biryani here about 20 years back. At that time, the owner, Samar Koyal, was humble and more than his biryani people loved his behaviour. Recently visited the outlet to rekindle old memories and to my utter surprise the owner is boiling with pride and ego, and his behaviour is so worst. Coming to review - biryani is a mix of long grain and broken rice. A mutton piece of 80-90 grams and half a plate of biryani will cost you Rs 100. Aloo was well cooked, but he pre-cooked aloo in masala gravy, so flavours entered the potato's core. He claims to spread secret masala on biryani on top but that is just black pepper and salt, nothing else. He keeps screaming at customers for any preference you share for a plate of biryani. The meat is not well-done but a bit chewy. Biryani's quality and taste have deteriorated over the years. Samar da now thinks he is invincible, and his downfall is evident. I always support street food vendors, but if you think you are above all, your downfall has started. Will avoid going forward.

Very light (both on stomach & pocket). The perfect roadside dish. Big pieces of chicken/mutton/potato and absolutely non-oily! And the inimitable style of the owner Samar da makes the experience all the more joyful!

After some youtube reviews I visited this place. This is just another street side pocket friendly biriyani, nothing special. If you are looking for great test then don't ruin your time by visiting this place. If you are after pocket friendly biriyani then you are probably at right place.

Good biryani and good piece’s of mutton and chicken. Price is very reasonable and also the taste is great unlike other footpath stalls that mix kewrar jol (rose water). I recommend anyone who is a biryani lover, should once try samar da’s biryani.

Its not good as we expected. Quantity was good but quality wasn't and chicken sizes were very small. For me its just waste of money

I had mutton biriyani there recently, the quantity of rice was good enough for one, but the mutton was burnt so didn't taste that well. The only plus point is that he gives two piece of mutton and aloo

The quantity is good overall. I expect more quality in this price range. But this biriyani is healthy. We have tried the chicken biryani which is both rupees 130. The chicken was not quoted in the masala and does not have the flavour. The ALU was good enough. I think everyone should try their mutton biryani as it is the highest selling product of them.

Very old shop. I know him since 2006.not very rich in spices.good taste.good amount as well reasonable.

A well mannered person manages a biryani stall on footpath of Kolkata but the interesting thing is that Biryani made by him is out of the World

This biriyani is good only when you eat it hot.if it gets cold it gets covered with thick dalda which makes the biriyani very difficult to eat.
Otherwise quantity is very good, two piece chicken, two piece potato, salad.everything us nice just that above issue.
Service is very slow as Samar da himself looks after everything.keep 1 hour in hand and go there.

The Biryani it self is a star. Many reputed well known Biryani joint can learn from the owner how to prepare Biryani. I meant the big names in our City who's known for their Biryani. Well that's about the taste now come to the accommodation and seating which is none, means nothing you have to stand a road side and have to eat. Now come to the most difficult part about this Biryani is to wait and time that u have to spend here to eat because of that i have given a star short. The people are waiting well before the shop even set up and the que is getting longer and longer and then this person come and setup his shop for the day. And then u need maintain two lines one is there for take a way and another is dine in which is having your food there. Well that's about the food and you can choose between one plate or a half plate prices are like 130₹for mutton full and and 110₹for chicken full and half i didn't ask, well that's about place but again I am saying this if u planning a visit this place make sure u have one and a half to two hour atleast to your self, well that's about it, food tasted heaven.

The seller is full of negative attitude, doubt how long he will survive with this attitude. The biryani is the worst I have tasted in my life. Infact I had to throw away the food, however I don't understand why some people are crazy about this biryani. I suggest try out biryani at India Hotel at khidirpore desire fancy market.

It was good within budget. There is always a queue for ordering though it is on a roadside. There are two different queues, one for eating and one for parcel. You can get both mutton and chicken briyani.

It took more than an hour for my turn to come when I was standing in a que. Biriyani's taste is common, just like Kolkata Biriyani but the Mutton was very soft and mouth watering.

Much Over hyped. Potatoes are not boiled properly. Meat is not that tasty. The process of serving is very slow. Only Good thing is the price. However, it not worth of so much hype that has been created recently.

We gave a visit to the much famed Samar Da'r biriyani located just opposite to Priya Cinemas very close to Deshapriya Park. But to our dismay this place doesn't live up to the hype. Not because it's a roadside stall, but because of the quality of the food served here.

We took a full plate mutton biriyani for ₹130 which gives 2 pieces of aloo and 2 mutton pieces and if you consider the value for money, it's more than enough. But then when you come to the taste and the quality of rice given, it's not worth it. Have a look at the pics provided and you'll have a fair idea about what we are talking about. Another downside here is the long waiting time here. There are 2 lines here, one for parcel and the other for standing and dining there. So the service is extremely slow. You can easily expect around 30 to 40 minutes minimum of waiting.

We didn't like the place and would definitely not recommend if you want to go for taste. But if quantity and value for money is your main focus then definitely give this place a try.

Important: Do reach the place at 1pm to get quick service. The left line is for dining and the right on is for take away. Make sure to stand in the proper lines.

I took a parcel, and it was not worth the penny nor the long wait of 1.5 hours. The biryani got sticky with full of Dalda just after 15 mins. Even the parcel packet was too small, as it consisted of 2 potato and 2 mutton. So, where's the place for rice? Even the mutton's didn't have a good flesh, but it was soft to be honest. Full plate mutton biryani costed- Rs. 130/-

Located just beside of Priya cinema at Deshopriyo park.chicken and mutton biriyani both r available here. Quantity is sufficient for a person and quality is good in a pocket friendly price.only minus point is slowness.u may have to wait for 1 or 2 hour.

He served with full of attitude.n the rude behavior he shows.y i didn't understand that. He i very lucky that customers are liking his biryani. Other wise the way he talk to rhe customer's i don't think a good person would repeat to go again.

It was average, Over spicy as per my taste bud. Yes, quantity is good. Nothing special, wasted 1.5hours in the queue by observing people's craze in several social networks in food groups.

Unnecessary hyped no taste at all especially if u take away, the person is very slow (marketing strategy) which makes you stand in queue forever an if u ask any1 in line about samar Da biryani, only answy u will get they have come after watching the YouTube video he don't have any regular customer and he don't deserve 1

Average taste, you have to wait for long, behaviour is very polite. Today I have served food after 1 hour.

The taste of the Biryani was okay, overall it was spicy can be visited once. But will have to have lots of patience since u will have to wait in queue, the joint starts at 2 PM.

Not very good.my personal review.if you live near then you may go there.but if you live far you should not weast your money and time for this

Its just a place to have Biryani. Nothing else. Today I was passing by that area and when I saw some people having biryani there, I thought to stop and planned to take 1 biryani home. However the queue was not so long bit it seems nobody was paying any attention to thise who is standing in the queue to take parcel for more than an hour. Only attention was given to those who wants to eat there. Absolitely a chaotic situation. At least I came back as it was taking to long for a bityani. They must keep more people for better management.

If you really want to taste the Kolkata biryani there are many places to try as this Samar da's biryani is not the best in town.

Darun Biriyani. I wish all of people of kolkata should go to this place at least once. I sure they will love it.

Very tasty, qualityful, healthy and pocket friendly biriyani. It is hygienic and sufficient for one. Though there will be no egg. I am in touch with Samar Da personally.

Smells great. Chiken and mutton are too testy anf tender.but it is oily.over good food, good quantity, Hygiene.but cant say its healthy.
