Bad experience with this hotel and they don't have lock for their bathrooms and odour is bad for blankets.don't visit

Snowlion Homestay is a gem of a place on Gandhi road mananged by a lovely Tibetan family. The room is spacious & cosy with good amenities & excellent wifi. View of the mountain ranges and hills from their terrace is breathtaking! The room we booked had a good view too. They have a travel desk at the reception and we booked a local points tour and Pravin was excellent with his driving and knowledge of the important landmarks around. The Mall road is within walking distance and many eateries are close-by. Highly reccommended!

I booked at Snowlion for a family weekend visit to Darjeeling and we had enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Breakfast was served at their family dining room on the floor above our rooms. Food was tasty & wholesome and served with a smile by the friendly staff. Location is very near to Chowrasta and accessible by vehicle. Rooms are spic and tastefully done up with attached bathroom. Definitely value for money. Good wifi connection too. They have 2 family pets and both are so friendly and lovable.

Snowlion Homestay is a good place to stay in Darjeeling. Simple hotel with 'no fuss' motto amd full of warmth. It's just 2 min walking distance from the Clock Tower on Gandhi Road (the road that goes towards Peace Pagoda, Jalapahar, Circuit House, Lalkothi etc). But the best thing is the warm Tibetan atmosphere. The lounge itself is so well decorated with Tibetan items that one can spend hours by just sitting there. A photo of HH Dalai Lama XIV will shower you with blessings. The breakfast is homemade and filling. You can choose from roti-sabzi, bread butter, banana, omelet. The rooms (mine was deluxe) are very good and spacious with huge beds. Geyser is there. Jet is there. Reading lamps are there. Yellow lights instead of white give that cozy warm feeling. The hotel is mainly run by youngsters and they're always ready to help in any need. Tibetan Refugee Self Help's office is just opposite to the hotel. Manjushree Tibetan Museum is just a few buildings down. Though the hotel doesn't provide lunch or dinner, nothing to worry about. Because there are plenty of eateries in this vicinity. Darjeeling is not just Glenary's or Keventer's as popularised by us Bangalis and South Indians. There are many other places to explore. China Hut, Nawang's, Bonny's, Sonam's, Uzumaki'z, Nerdvana, Padma, Mahakal these are just a few names. Walk. Explore the town. Even roadside faley @ ₹20 can keep you filled for hours.

To the management: thank you so much for your parting gift khata. It helped us a lot in our journey back home. It kept us safe. Really.

Snow Lion homestay is a very good place to stay at, the rooms are luxurious, the staff are very efficient and good mannered, the food available here is one of the best. You can rent cars and bikes for small tours from here itself. The location is very good, you can see the mountain range right from your room. I highly recommend this homestay to make your holiday memorable.

I had a great experience staying at this hotel. The room which I stayed in was spacious enough for two people. Located in the most perfect place I would say. The clock tower is at two mins walking distance. Budget friendly and the staffs were also very nice. Best place to stay in Darjeeling for someone like me. Definitely recommending my friends and anyone I know.

Very very happy & nice place, room & atmosphere. Behaviour is very beautiful. Location is important very nice viewing Kanchanjunga. We have been very much glad at this place. I hope honestly say lovely pretty place it's.

Great experience.the rooms were cozy and the hospitality was great.also the location is great.the view from the first floor rooms were not that great however the stairs are accessible and the view from the terrace is amazing.all in all, would highly recommend this hotel.

Rooms should be immediately renovated.
Specially toilate are below average.
Towels found very dirty.
Furniture of the room are non-fuctional.
No arrangement tea/ coffee, electric kettle in room along with a termojug is a must for rooms specially a places like Darjeeling.
But service of Suraj & others room service personal is excellent.
Specially aunty the mother of the owner she is a very noble lady. On request she arranged cottage cheese in breakfast as i had a stomach upset at that time.
It is also out of place to mention that day when I was in high fever they lent me their own thermometer used for their family.
Overall it was a nice place as well as the behaviour of all family members of the owner, specially the location it is bang on Gandhi Road which is the main exit way from Darjeeling city 5 minutes away from Keveders & 10 minutes far away from Mall the heat of the queens of the hills.
And most importantly they have 2 SUV owned by them (which can be rented for boarders/ guests) of the hotel and a personal parking place which is very uncommon in a place like Darjeeling.
I would request the owner to convert the first floor to a basic restaurant as it is very dificult to go out of property specially in evening time during sudden rain & your guests are mostly Bengalis who does not takes their dinner before 10 p.m. And if it raining outside it is impossible to move out of your in chil temperature which Bengalis cannot tolerate.
Hope i had made you all understand my views and observation.
One thing I must mention here that room number 202 is the best room of the hotel besides 501 & 502, from where Mountain Kangchenjunge (one of the best mountain range screen on this earth) is visible from all 3 rooms.

A very nice and cosy homestay to stay in the heart of Darjeeling city. The home stay is simple and elegant with nice view rooms. The team can even suggest site visit options as well as transit options to and fro to Darjeeling from siliguri.
The host and the staff are welcoming and the vehicle can be taken in front of the hotel but the parking has to he done at some distance owing to location on busy and narrow street just like at other hill stations.
Can surely go with the homestay for economic, clean, and basic stay at Darjeeling.

Wonderful hospitality, good management, staff behaviour well. But walking 15 minutes distance from mall.

This is very clean n tidy place. The serving staff were very nice and good. The hotel is located an awesome location with almost all the things of darjeeling being in range. A good stay as its very close to chauk bazar and mall road

Exorbitantly high rate with zero service. I stayed in the rooftop room no 501 which happens to be the most expensive room in this home stay. There is nothing called housekeeping, cobweb hangs from ceilings, furnitures have a later of dirt. The worst part in there in nothing called room service, you wouldn't even get a glass of hot water (forget tea/coffee). No electric kettle, hardly any toiletries. Only one 2 litre bottle was given during our stay of 2 days. Not at all a comfortable place to stay specially if you have kids or elderly in the group. The only positive part of this hotel is the rooftop which has got a splendid view of Kanchenjunga with the town in the forefront.

Great location, just 5 min walking from mal. Neat and clean room with complimentary breakfast.

Excellent location just 2-3min from Keventer's. Rooms are cosy & full of amenities and facilities. The rooftop view just beyond the words. Obviously there is luck factor to have the chance to view the Sleeping Buddha (Kanchanjungha range). Need to upgrade room heater quality. Very helpful and courteous staff always there for every needs of the guest. Eagerly waiting for the next visit as well.

Clean, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, and a dining room covered with Tibetan artefacts with a great view of Kangchejunga on clear mornings, and excellent value for money. Wonderful customer service; when I left a shirt behind they mailed it on for me. Highly recommended.

Hands down it is the best Homestay.
It's located on Gandhi Road and it's in the centre of the city. Mall road and all the famous restaurants are just a couple of minutes walk from here.
The rooms are spacious, clean, organised and nicely maintained with proper facilities.
The bathrooms are clean and spacious as well.
The hospitality is heart warming.
Gailly, the owner of the Homestay is a great host and his staffs are well behaved and truly helpful. He also has a cute dog who is so friendly.
One of my family member fell sick and we couldn't find rice for breakfast. So Gailly got khichdi made at his home and served us. It was yummy and healthy too. Even after taking up the trouble, he didn't charge a penny for it.

Accessing food at reasonable cost is available here. The taste and quantity both are nice.

Overall, I had a great experience. I would recommend it to everyone for visiting this homestay, at least once.

I will visit again for sure.
