We ordered desserts, coffee and drinks and it was great. The tiramasu was yummy. The mud pie was rich and decadent. Our server Sanjana was very courteous and hospitable. Overall a great experience.
It was such a great experience. Perfect place to celebrate Durga Puja with exquisite Bengali thali. We ordered seafood thali, it was delicious but didn't like all the fish items, can't remember the name but one item I didn't like. It's unlimited, and the best thing is that they always serve hot food properly.
Yesterday i went there for dinner with my niece and cousins to celebrate her birthday. The ambience, the decor everything was good. The staffs are very welcoming, very much pleased with their behaviour and approach. They took care of everything we mentioned for our dinner. The quality and quantity of food served was good. Though the place is very far from my place still i want to visit this place again. And i will recommend everyone to visit this place at least once and and to avoid waiting prebook your table.
We had gone to Taj Bengal for lunch, and were recommended Sonargaon by the staff there.
The restaurant offers Indian cuisine, specialising in Bengali food. We chose the latter.
The food was delicious. Couple that with the typical 'gram bangla' decor, it was a once in a lifetime experience. We ordered à la carte and he quantity was more than adequate. The cost overall was less than a typical buffet.
The staff was very warm and welcoming. Everyone wore masks and the place is kept spick and span. We had the opportunity of meeting the chef, and he was as humble as can be.
The food was fantastic, save the veg biryani which could have been improved upon. The taste dovetails nicely into the décor reminiscent of rural Bengal of a bygone era. Hope to visit again soon!
Went today with my parents to enjoy a fabulous Bengali Thali on the last day of Durga Puja. Foods were amazing, specially the Mutton and Fish were splendid. The ambience, the hospitality and the presentation are of impeccable quality. Next visit will try the A la carte menu.
Very wonderful experience I had yesterday. This was our first visit. The quality and quantity both looks very good to me … Since this is Bengal’s heritage Traditional hotel so the royal ambiance always eye catching…Restaurant staffs were very friendly and prompt on providing servicing. I am impressed and I will recommend everyone to try this place at-least once so that you can have royal experience in life.
Had always heard great things about Taj but never got the opportunity until this trip. My nephew got very good result in his 12th exam so was the right occasion for a visit. This was one of those times where the experience exceeded the expectations. Sudeep who was serving us had an excellent knack of understanding the customer and recommended dishes that he knew we would love.
The bhetki fry was amazing as a starter. Sudeep suggested that the kaali daal is a must. I am so glad that he recommended it. As it was the highlight of everything. Definitely out of the world preparation. We also got to try the radhuni murg and Josh’s mangso. Both were melting in your mouth. The only thing that needed a bit more finesse were the naans and paratha’s. They were good but not something that wowed me compared to the the other dishes.
We were stuffed with the food but when I heard nolen gur er ice cream from Sudeep. I Couldn’t resist and boy I was glad. Another great product to end the day.
Truly great food and even better service. The price is very reasonable for what you get. Definitely have to visit here on my next Kolkata trip. Thank you to the folks who made this night very special.
- ambience - customisable dishes - handling of kids - liberal & open-minded culture
What's not befitting a 5 Star hotel restaurant? (Cons)
- F & B service - taste - comfort level
Generally we had a good time so no major complaints but more is expected from a 5 star hotel. And yes - if you're lucky, you may just meet a celebrity:)
We specifically wanted to taste biriyani at the Taj. First things first you will not find the "Kolkata" style biriyani here with the absolutely mandatory aloo and egg that we have grown up with. My only request is to please introduce this darling of biriyani lovers from Kolkata! Thd Awadhi style biriyani has more spices so if you are looking for it go on try it. One portion is more than sufficient for two people and would cost around INR1600. The raita accompanying the biriyani is really nice! That apart the gondhoraj beckti kebabs are absolutely recommended and so is the nolen gur icecream and rasamalai prices around INR600. The quality of martini and margaritas is top notch. Did not enjoy the chewy experience of Lamb Rann. Also highly recommend booking a table in advance as the place receives a flow of diners specially on weekends. You would definitely love the decor and the staff service here. Indulge with family and friends as the ambience would probably not attract solo diners.
The best in Kolkata. It's like old wine. Getting better and better. Ambience is same old nostalgic. And quality of menu. Is as per season. And taste.unparalleled.don't miss corn and hare matar ke kabab or kakori kabab
Thanks for the hospitality. The service.the ambience.the food quality everything was just perfect. Its always a pleasure to visit The Taj.love coming back again and again.
On if the popular Indian restaurants at Taj Bengal. The daal sonargaon is legendary. The ambience rustic Indian, you will feel you are in a typical Indian mud hut.great ambience.
The ambience is so classy and beautiful. The staffs are courteous. Decoration is elegant. The food was overall great. But some of them was a little. Well, less tasty. Yet, nothing to whine about. A must visit with family for an sumptuous evening.
