Sterling Darjeeling - Resorts and Hotels

Have been a very old Member of Sterling & have been repeatedly going to Sterling Darjeeling year after year. Have thoroughly enjoyed our stay & returned rejuvenated. All the Staff & Management are extremely helpful & friendly.

We had at a delightful stay from 3rd Feb to 6th Feb. The location, food and service is top class. The resort gives unobstructed views of the mighty Kanchenjunga. There are daily activities to keep you busy. We witnessed a musical bonfire. Food is really good. It was the service that stood above all. We thank the following people for making our stay memorable and comfortable
Front desk- Jiban ji, Dipika ji, Ajay ji very courteous, skilled our check in, check out, travel arrangements was seamless and quick because of them.

Chef Sushil made the best tea we were touched by his hospitality.
Pramod Ji, Sanjay ji, Doma Ji, Sunita ji and Surekha ji took care of every little detail and requests. Thank you for taking every effort in making our food experience delightful.
Birshika ji of housekeeping is very caring an asset to the team.

This was my first time in Sterling Darjeeling. Absolutely loved my stay here. I was here with family. We had the most pleasurable and comfortable stay. Staff was also so nice and helpful. This will definitely be my go to place when ever i plan any trip to darjeeling.

It was wonderful and mesmerizing stay for 3 nights at sterling. Food quality and service is excellent. Perfect for family and old age people.

Good stay. Only the entry gate has an issue of car accessibility because of narrow roads. Other services are ok.

Property is at a good location but the services provided were really lacking. Food was really bad. It was all tasteless and cold. Rooms were too overpriced and really didn't match the price.
Overall not a value for money experience.

Pathetic hotel pathetic service i wish there would be option of minus 5. There is no cordination between the staffs. No hospitality. You will feel like you are staying at some local homestay. No gesture towards the guest.we have booked the hotel for two days including breakfast and we have requested for the packed breakfast for the other day but they didn't give the breakfast. Pathetic place to stay in Darjeeling pls avoid this place

Very nice place with an amazing view of Kachenjunga mountain ranges.a major drawback is the route to the resort which is very narrow and unkept

All the things, r well maintained, food quality is excellent, room service and all r excellent.

Lovely location away from maddening crowd.only disadvantage is it's secluded deep inside.and it's about 1 km to the main road with no proper road and lights. The housekeeping can do a better job if they want to.

Pros- 1. The rooms are excellent and offer great views.
2. Located away from the hustle and bustle of Darjeeling. If you want a peaceful stay, then this is your place.
3. Ghoom monastery is a minute walk from the property.
Cons- 1. Extremely poor service from hotel staff.
2. Overpriced food along with mediocre taste. So most people rely on food delivery services or go to Darjeeling Mall.
3. The approach road to the hotel is extremely steep and walking there can be very tiresome.
4. Commute to and from Darjeeling Mall will cost you quite a few bucks.
5. No tourist activities nearby. The nearest shops are atleast 10-15 minutes walk away.

One of the best places near darjeeling to stay, with the stunning view of kanchajunga and extraordinary room service, in my stays I must mention the name of room service guy, Arun Thapa. I am realy amazed with his service and rest of staff's behaviour.

We had a memorable stay as in terms of amenities in room, facilities at the resort and hospitality by staff, we would rank them all highly satisfactory. However the internet service in room and through out the resort is very poor and needs immediate attention by management as we had better connectivity on mobile data while video calling and mild office work requires much more than 0.2mbps speed that we got on average. Apart from this we found the food average in taste and variety this requires little attention too. Special mentions Ashish and Amuna who served us at the restaurant and made our stay extra special in many ways through the 6 day stay. We found them trying to make every guest feel special by catering to minute details and warm approach.

Fantastic property location. Good vegetarian food, ample choices. Amazing view of Kanchanjunga range. One can see snow capped peaks from the room itself.

The ambience was good but was not satisfied with the services like the bathroom kit was not provided until requested, AC was said Centralised in the beginning then later provided the remote, etc.

A marvelous hospitality they had served for us. Location is not compare to the other hotels which located in Darjeeling. And Specially Mr. Arun Thapa served his best to make us happy on every moment.

Pros -
We were super happy with our room and service from both Room Service & Housekeeping. Arun, from Room Service especially was great. Amazing!

The room was well maintained, with all modern amenities available. Including heaters as it was cold. There was a problem with 1 of the heaters and they replaced it immediately.

The outdoor kids play area was good.

Great number of taxis are available for pick and drop, as well as for sightseeing.

Special mention for Amod at the front desk was very helpful.

Cons -
The activities were non existent. We were there for 3 nights and wanted to be involved in some activites but there were none.

There was an amazing bonfire well they had but inspite our requests it wasn't used even once during our stay even though the resort was almost at full capacity.

The indoor activity room had no toys, games, activites for our 4 year old son.

The road leading to the location is narrow and get get congested at times.

Very nice but old property. Not very clean and maintained. The property is situated at a very high point and the scenery is good if you get a nice room. The food is good. The staff is not very cordial. Breakfast was average and cold.

A Resort cum Hotel with scenic view. It is located in Ghoom near the old monestry 8-10km outside the congested city in the peaceful hill with beautiful valley view.
But the food is not upto the mark and also very costly. And the problem is it is so far from other good restaurants that one even can't afford to go somewhere else to eat means one have to compulsory take the buffet of the Hotel.

Superb Venue for events, well behaved management, beautiful view and clean and top class rooms.

The biggest challenge getting here is the road towards the hotel but property is big and maintained well. Sterling is just adjacent to the ghum monastery. The road is very narrow, most of the motorists have an understanding otherwise it would be very difficult to get there - for people who are not taking the taxis this is a very difficult route of around a 1-2km. The lane is narrow. The property as such is in a big expanse, breakfast buffet is good. Service is excellent and staff is helpful and eager to do anything. What could have improved - they should ideally check rooms before someone check-in like our room heater was not working and when you are at 8degrees it matters when you are freezing. Rooms are large but roof is lower could be just around 6.3 ft. The lanes leading to the hotel sells most of the stuff and is at mrp.overall I felt the people and crowd good there

Amazing location, great view of the Kanchenjunga. However, entry road to the resort is very steep and needs urgent repair. Food quality is good but choices both in restaurant and in-room dining is extremely limited. Breakfast buffet is boring and repetitive. Need to increase the food menu ASAP.

Beautiful location and well spaced out resort for a leisurely stay.

Has a wonderful veiwepoiny to see Kanchenjunga so one won't even need to step out for the magnificent view.

Is just next door to the Ghoom Monastery for a quick walk there and meditate if one wishes.

Has a decent kitchen serving a good variety of cuisines.

An efficient travel desk arranging any tours that you want to do.

The staff is a bit lazy and hence the 3 stars.

It is the most poorly managed property at premium price ever. Rooms are damp and smelly had to change one because of that. You won't get air conditioning, food is expensive and low in taste, and staff is non courteous.

Apparently they have only 1 iron box so if you ask for one they will call you every 2 mins to take it back.

Worse sterling resort i have experienced. The reach is really bad. Rooms not up to mark unhygienic with hairs on beb. Avoidable.

The most pathetic experience, absolutely horrendous food, bad oil, no taste, the flour dow they uses is at least a week old.idli was so sticky that it was sticking to the palet.will not recommend this hotel to anyone.asked them to book a cab and the front office did not even bother to call back.

Lovely place at an altitude higher than Darjeeling. Beautiful landscape, courteous staff and very good food in such a remote area. In the pic in Kanchanjanga mountain at 5 am

This hotel is located in Ghoom which is 8 kms from Darjeeling. However most of the sightseeing is near by the hotel. Rooms are nice and equipped with all the amenities. Restaurant serves decent food and bit on the costlier side. Remember Tea here is very costly 250 rs a cup and not that great. Try having food somewhere outside. The approach road to the hotel is very narrow and most of the taxi drivers demand more money so beware of it. Hotel is overall a nice place to stay.

Sterling Darjeeling is situated near Ghoom Monastery and the weather is very amazing there. To capture this weather you have really big windows in your rooms. As compared to Gangtok, Darjeeling Classic rooms are very smaller in size but still worth staying as it also consists of good Room heaters to manage the temperature. Initially staff was very nice with all the arrangements and I faced no issues while booking and check in. Food quality is also very good. But, I found out that F&B department is very weak due to less staff. I faced this issue not only in Darjeeling even in Gangtok as well but it is worse in Darjeeling. Breakfast time is 7: 30 but it is never ready at 7: 30. Team pass on message but never execute anything. Room service, Ala Carte or anything like that takes too much time to transact and no one is empathetic to understand the pain of customer. This is something where Sterling should start working on. Being a good hotel does not means you stop improving yourself. Please invest on good improvement projects and I think you should really consider this as a critical feedback to be in the race of best.

The views from rooms are not good. Housekeeping needs training. Food was good. Property is big and good landscaping.

The place is located at a high point in Ghoom. Very near to the oldest monastery in Darjeeling. The location is really good for a getaway. Always covered in mist. Good staff and service. You can buy some winter cloths from a shop inside the hotel.

The location is bit inside and the road is very narrow and damaged. Also if you are driving, be mindful of the dangerous ascent from the gate to the reception area. Make sure that no vehicles are coming down from the hotel.

Rooms are good, Hospitality is also good.
The only problem is that it's located about 8 kms away from the main city.
So you can't imagine to go to local market by night walk.
You have to totally dependent on Cab.

Nothing great. Helpful staff trying to make the best of the post covid recovery phase. Location as such is nice but the approach road can be extremely difficult to negotiate especially when it is raining. Your vehicle should be powerful enough to climb up a steep gradient with a sharp turn.

I have been travelling wish sterling group as a member for many years noe and my favourite propery of theirs is Khushalaya, Ghoom. 2 spots- Ghoom monastry and Ghoom station are just a matter of 10 mins of walking. There property is vast and has great staff to make your stay as comfortable as ever and in 4 visits of mine i have never been dissapointed. You have a Mount view gallary from here you could see the snow clad himalayas if the weather permits. Would recommend this on any day. But it is in Ghoom not Proper Darjeeling (most ppl do not look into this)

Brilliant common area very, well placed view points. Can see mighty Himalayan ranges from hotel back side view point. Wide spread buffet and complete value for money. Food was way too good. Complete value for money. Road to the property is very narrow with very lil place for vehicles to move.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We had visited Sterling Darjeeling in 1995 after becoming Sterling members. Nice experience.

Best place to stay in Ghoom.a feel home away from home. Visited in March 2018 and lucky to have a room with a view of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Friendly staff, Excellent ambience and good food made it worthwhile. Definitely will recommend.

My friend, who is a journalist, is suffering from food poisioning, diahrea and loose motion. Had to leave the dining hall after seeing the pests, rats.

Celebrated New Year here, hospitality was beyond the call of duty given the circumstances, this is my first five star rating in 2 years, a staff expired serving open sky venue in cold 3°, should have not mentioned this but my heart didn't subsume, food is good, travel desk is punctual, room service is prompt, vibes is so homely you can't miss. If your expectations are reasonable you won't be disappointed.

A fine resort in Darjeeling. One of the highest point in Darjeeling. Well maintained, excellent F&B. Caters to families, couples. Apt for bespoke conferences, corporate offsite. The hotel has a well appointed conference venue

Great property to stay on a holiday with family or friends. Superb staff! Approach road is a little stuffy and non-local drivers might have a tough time due to the narrow lane. The property was spick and span, meticulously clean and beautiful. However, the dinner buffet was comparatively not up to mark. But after a few suggestions was treated better by the chef and other kitchen staff. Definitely worth staying at Sterling. All the more if you can grab some offers online!

Hotel is good, excellent food, but rooms are small and does not have a ventilation proper, room does not have fan / any cooling modalities so room are suffow

Hotel ha s beautiful location away from the Darjeeling city in ghom.however once here the feeling is like that of a secluded resort amidst nature with beauty all around.
Room that we stayed are good with adequate facilities like running hot water, heater so that kept us warm in the chilly weather outside.
Hygiene wise. Also it's clean.
The road however is very bad until the hotel️
Food is expensive so food for complimentary breakfast but not for dinners.
Hotel staff is cooperative.
Otherwise pretty much recommended for location good rooms cleanliness.

Serene surroundings, nice and clean property, helpful polite staff, good food, value for money, suites have required amenities like tea maker, microwave, crockeries, room heater, geyser etc. Enjoyed our stay!

The location is good. The rooms are well maintained and the staff were helpful. The free WiFi is only for an hour and it is very slow. Almost unusable.

Went there as over night guest for two days, has pleasant stay, the food tasted not so good, although place is qeut and is experience.

Slightly costly, but worth it. Good food, breakfast was really good, good options. Cozy room with rooms air conditioners with warm air. Perfectly located on the top of a hillock (although the way to the top is very narrow). Nice view, can see the Kanchenjanga if you are lucky and there is no fog. During our 3 nights stay, it was very foggy and chilly in the outside but very warm and comfortable inside. Must visit. There is a small gift shop near the reception, which has got a great options of clothes. Took a lot of stuffs for friends and family. Its quite cheap, though no bargaining. Overall I would recommend the place for sure.

Awesome resort with great views. You can see Kanchenjunga from the view point inside the resort. Many rooms have great Mountain Views.

Don’t book this hotel by just looking at photos, they misguiding customers by showing false information, for reference I am posting this photo of my booking, in this app they are showing valley view room, but this rooms are garden facing. Hotel staff is not responding properly against this, kindly talk to hotel staff before booking, above all they say we have renovated our rooms, that’s why location of room is changed.
