The Denmark Tavern

We went for lunch. The food was good, the ambience great. We ordered Pasta Chicken, chicken sausages and Chicken Schnitzel which happens to be their signature dish. Service was good. The place has some pretty good spots for photography. A good choice for having a meal if you're going on a long drive to Shrirampur with friends or family.

Overhyped place.only the place and it's antique decor is worth visiting but their food is simply horrible. Worst quality of food and tooooooo over priced and a bottle of beer of 330 ml cost in the range of Rs 600-700 and that to also they gave us simple drinking water glasses for beer, not even a beer mug they have. It's not worth going 50km approx so far from Kolkata. I Strictly don't recommend the place.

We went for Sunday brunch. And waited for around 1 hour before we could manage a table. The place was nice with an old charm. As the whole building complex was renovated recently. The style of the architecture is colonial.

Food was okay, nothing special. A tad bit pricy even considering the ambiance.

The main attraction is undoubtedly the ambiance along with the interior. However, do not get surprised if you are not allowed to roam around freely due to some photo shoot or some shooting. It's location will come second in the attraction list. Great view of the Ganges, close proximity to the Serampore Railway station, recently renovated colonial buildings in nearby area all add to the unavoidable charm of the place.

Management is pathetic. The behavior from the staffs is equally miserable.

We often visit the cafe (Flurys) beside Denmark Tavern. To say in a word, the danish restaurant along with the "gangar ghat" in front of it makes the entire scenario picturesque and tourists catcher.

I keep going back to Denmark Tavern. Everything about it aww’s me. The food, the location, just can’t resist, with this being my 3rd visit

A beautiful place that can be an ideal weekend destination. Located at the bank of Hoogly river this place is furnished with antique furniture. I went there during Durga Puja. We booked a buffet for lunch. The food was very tasty. There were plenty of food options. Sreerampore is a place of historical value. So we roamed at the nearby area and visited the Church, College and many other places.

A lovely small hotel, tucked away in Srirampur. Lovely location. Great for a short, away from the hustle and bustle of the metro cities.

Located on the banks of Ganges, this place was actually an old inn renovated in recent time. The menu was limited yet lots of variety was visible. However, we were made to wait a considerable time after placing the order for the food. This was also resulting in higher turn around time and thereby lengthening the waiting period outside the restaurant. The food was really tasty particularly the Danish dishes.

Completely dissatisfied with the type of service we had in Denmark Tavern.we were returning from our weekend trip to Kolkata. On our way, we thought of having our lunch in Denmark Tavern.to our horror, it took 1.5 hours to serve the food on table. They had forgotten to serve the yellow dal we had ordered, mixed veg was completely uncooked, mutton half boiled, bhetki not properly cooked. I was completely shocked to see that you use the tm of " The PARK". Completely dissatisfied and would recommend none to visit the restaurant!

Food quality is low. Fish in hot garlic sauce- the fish was smelly. Service is very low. Our order comes after 1 hour. Very dissatisfied.

Excellent location, decor, clean environment, service and overall atmosphere. Felt like I am enjoying coffee in a cafe at Copenhagen, Denmark.

Food is not so good. Service needs to be improved. Only the ambience is the only attraction of this place

Ambience is good, but food taste is very poor. Pizza crust is literally hard. And sausage is tasteless.

The signature Denmark tavern dishes are a must try. A special recommendation will be the Mud pie cake with vanilla ice cream.

One star is for the novelty of the heritage property dated 1786 though it could have been better maintained. Had gone there for lunch last Sunday and came back after having early dinner. Courtesy the slack work culture at the eatery. 2 hours waiting time is normal on holidays. Food was sub par after all that wait. Rice was half cooked. Chicken curry was spicy but lacked salt, mixed Chowmin hardly had the mix. Order only snacks items like fish fry and cold coffee if you are visiting anyway. We had heard bad reviews but had decided to give it a try anyway. Now repenting.

Located on the banks of the Hoogly river in Serampore, “The Denmark Tavern” stands upright holding its charm, virtue, and beauty. The eye-catching ambience and the soft pecks of moist flurries undoubtedly will steal your heart. However, its maintenance is quite a task and definitely not taken care of that well by the management. The walls had damp marks, and there were Drosophilas all around, causing exasperation.
The food was a bit extortionate and somewhat lacked flavor. We ordered chicken noodles which could have had a bit more piquancy, the chicken lollipop was however quite flavourful. The lime soda was extremely costly in comparison to its taste, and to our greatest disappointment, most Danish items were unavailable. Nonetheless, the overall experience was pretty good.

We went to Denmark Tavern today. The place is beautiful and the historical background it has is very interesting. BUT, the key reason to visit a restaurant is food, and it was actually quite bad. We had ordered a chicken pizza, the base of the pizza was as hard as a it could get. We had also ordered grilled fish with lemon garlic sauce. The fish was not at all grilled, rather it was fried. We had also ordered chicken momo and chicken sweet corn soup. The soup was ok but the filling was too little in the momo. Now coming to the service. After reaching the restaurant we had to wait for 30 mins due to unavailability of seats, which is still ok. As we can understand that there is a rush in the weekends and it is difficult to accommodate everyone on time. But the pathetic part was when we had to wait for another 30 mins to get a glass of water. Then again a wait for 20 mins for the first bite of food. I don't know what was the reason behind the delay, but the waiters were really struggling with attending guests. I really don't know how the Indian delicasies will be, because we have not tried them. Pizza is a complete no no here!

Charming place by the Ganges. Beautiful decor and attracts people from all over now due to its popularity.
Book a room here or just visit for the restaurant. Try to not visit on Sundays as it tends to get overcrowded.

One of the most pathetic places one can go to. Horrible food. Food is supposedly being managed by THE PARK hotel of Kolkata which makes it all the more a terrible experience as one anticipates a certain standard. DO NOT make the mistake of visiting this place EVER. Total waste of Time and Money.

Laid out by the Ganges on the river bank of Shreerampur, this place is lavish and at the same time elegant. It has a typical old school charm of yesteryears. Elegantly laid out over a wide area, this place has housing facilities along with a restaurant and a cafe. The restaurant remains typically busy on Sundays so prior booking will be good.

Delicious food, excellent location and beautiful decor. Definitely a place worth visiting. Perfect for a weekend getaway!

An amazing place to be in! Spend some quality time with yourself at the secluded flurys corner or intensify your foodgasms at the restro, tavern won't left you much disappointed. It'll also pamper you with its vintage pomp and pride. Declared as a heritage site, located just by the Ganges, this place is a minute's walk from the barrackpore-sreerampore jetty and a couple of minutes more from Sreerampore station.

Nice location although approach roads to it are narrow and congested. Nice food. There's no view of the river from the from the dining space. The management could have installed a glass partition in the mid portion of the wall separating the dining room from the reception. That would've given a completely new perspective & sense of space to the eating area. Now it feels kind of hemmed-in & claustrophobic.

They were playing Radiohead and Hozier there! Amazing service, there was an issue but they fixed it almost immediately and made sure we got a complimentary drink for that. How great is that! Ayush was serving us, make sure to tip them all. Truly splendid!

It was a horrible experience for us at Denmark Tavern on 14th Feb. We reached the place at 20.45 hrs. The security guard denied us entry saying that the order has been closed whereas in the website it is clearly written that the restaurant closes at 2130 hrs. Accordingly we travelled 16 kms and were excited to witness the new place. But it was a totally unprofessional attitude by the staff there. We requested a lot saying that two kids are also with us and we are coming from a far away place but our prayer was not at all entertained. The staff at the cash even misbehaved with us. I didn't expected such welcome from a reputed name like 'Park Group'. Therefore my advice is not to visit such a place.

Awesome location, if you are planning to visit on weekends or holidays, book in advance as restaurant has limited capacity to serve.

Read a lot about this place. Nice restoration. I shall not stay there spending 5k. Food and drinks: Nothing extraordinary

Liked it indeed. Open and wide spaces to sit back and enjoy your food.
A thing to improve is manpower to manage the crowd and a tad bit of professionalism.
Once fully functional (as I hear plans of expansion) this will become a sure shot crowdpuller.

To be honest had good expectation out of this place but alas. This place boasts of the park Kolkata but nothing is comparable to that of the park in any of the aspects. Quality of the food and serving sizes could definitely be worked on.
Proper etiquette should be taught to the waiters as they lack the work ethics of a proper restaurant. The soup was served without a saucer under it which ruined the experience for me at least. Coming to the food it's very average though the price is on the higher side in comparison. The menu is confused itseems lacks proper choices. All this can be improved and hope to have a better expectation the next time I dine there.

Great renovation done here, a good cafe unique in Serampore. Lovely ambience, by the Riverside. The cafe is run by The Park and they maintain good standards in food. They are open throughout the day serving breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner.

First thing which I am going to mention and the most beautiful part which I felt is the setting of the Denmark Tavern. The sorroundings of the Tavern is very neat and clean. The beauty lies as the River Ganga flows through the edge of the Tavern and there is a small and a narrow park through the riverside and infront of the Tavern. The Tavern has been very beautifully renovated and the history of its grandeur architecture has been restored successful. Inside of it is offcourse very beautiful decorated keeping in my mind the age and culture of the structure. Till now it has only fooding facility. The Park manages the fooding as well as the internal maintenance of the Tavern. The staff I must say is very warm and welcoming and the best part of it is that they invite their guests and take them across the the building and showcases the Tavern's splendid internal architecture. The Tavern is a two storeyed building and the floor above the dinning hall has two big rooms packed with Danish furniture, a long verendah and offcourse a very beautiful balcony where you spend the whole day sitting there and seeing the beautiful River Ganga calmy flowing infront of you. But the sad part is that the lodging has still not started but it is expected to start very soon. Now coming back to the food quality I must say that the quality of the food is ordinary and not at all impressive. And one more I want to mention to you guys that there is no Danish cuisine available here so do not expect something new from this place with respect to food. The main cuisine served here is Indian. So that's it guys if you want a change during a weekend you could definitely visit this place as there are some different experiences here. Apart from the Tavern there are a few places to see closely located which is the St. Olav's Church, it is a beautiful church and is a really big one. The church also belong to the Danish community which is evident from its structure. The church is also very beautiful renovated by the Government of West Bengal and I would suggest that not to miss this place if you visit the the Denmark Tavern. There are also lots of old buildings there and truly you will love this place. So please do visit it if u want to experience something new or something different.

History, Taste, hospitality and a superb view makes up Denmark tavern. A must visit place in Serampore.

The place is interesting with its old style and upkeep of history.loved the riverside and the architecture of the old building. But the downside was the service of the restaurant.waiting time was too long! Food was good. I particularly liked the danish dessert! Worth a visit!

This is an Heritage Hotel and Restaurant. This House belonged to a wealthy Trader and was built in the year 1786. During that time the Region was a Colony ruled by the Danish Government. The Place was originally known as Goswami Mansion but in recent years it has been converted into a Heritage Hotel - run by The Park.

The place houses a Multi Cuisine Restaurant and a cafeteria. The Cafeteria is run by the famous Flurys Confectionery.

The food is pretty good and the price is affordable. The best part is the experience and mood that the place offers. The place dosen't serve liquor and the service is little sluggish.

One can reserve tables, Books a stay and even walk in for an awesome experience.

Pathetict place to visit. Specially for tourists.only localiets were entertained. Bad service. Veg options are very very limited. Waiters are not aware of the menu. Ambience is also not that good. It is like someone opened a restaurant in own house. They are insulting the name of The Park.

The Denmark Tavern, Serampore is definitely a place worth visiting. The ambience is so peaceful. The architecture of the building is marvelous. This place showcases its old world charm. And the food one gets here is delicious. I simply loved it all!

The food was good. Most importantly the ambience was beautiful. I love all old buildings. Specially when it's situated beside the river, with a grand old terrace, overlooking it and fitted with comfortable couches and settees! I have taken away one star, as is customary of any good teacher grading!: D

Awesome restaurant. Today I visited this restaurant for second time and this time with my dad and brother. We ordered chicken pizza and denmark roasted chicken. Food quality is super. Free wi fi available. Background instrumental music makes me happy.

First to strike when you enter the place, is the mind blowing ambience. The food suggestions from Satff are good. Service excellent and food quality is great. Stick to the continental dishes. They are worth the money. Enough place to roam around the floors and the gardens. Enjoy the starter with Danish style chicken.for main course grab the traditional Bengali style or continental pasta. After an unforgettable meal you may be tempted to skip out on dessert —but it's strongly suggest to reconsider. The guest favorite, the Signature Warm Cappuccino is a can’t-miss menu item.

Very good management. Excelent food quality and surrounding atmosphere. Back ground music volume was felt to be high. Come with family including children and enjoy THE PARK Lunch or dinner. The Danish roasted chicken and Pizza were served hot and delicious.

It's an 18th century restaurant revived. I went there today and it was crowded as it was a holiday. But the restaurant is not equipped to serve all the tables at once. It took 50 minutes to get my sandwich and sausage. The food is okay, not great. The view of the river and the property itself is amazing.

Place is very beautiful and well decorated, but the food was disgusting. We have ordered for Chinese, they served us rotten fish and chicken. Even the chicken momos were smelling bad.
Only good dish was Danish pastry with vanilla ice cream.
