The Garden Bungalow - Best Luxury Home Stay in Santiniketan, Bolpur

It is an excellent property, the vintage and antique collection of furniture and the architecture simply transports us into the royal zamindar era. This is my 3rd visit to this property.

Loved it! Awesome and wonderful experience. Will have the feeling of Rajbaris or Zamindar Baris of the 18th century or the vintage times. For sure! Will love the place for sure if you love old architecture and living style like me. It gives you a free entry into the lap of nature, where you can hear the beautiful chirping of birds, rustling of trees, fragnant breeze mixed with the beautiful atmosphere of Santiniketan.

This hotel doesn't like kids.they don't allow kids to play n run on the fields except the roads. Room service is pathetic rather better to say they don't have any. For a guest it is more like staying in "dharamsala" not in a paid hotel. Ambience is very nice, plants and trees are the bonus. If you are travelling with elderly person (around 80), still they will not allow food to be served in the room on a cold or rainy night.

Great place to stay with picturesque backdrop and antique themed interior but pathetic service. Only one employee used to serve all the guest starting from reception, room service and everything. But the property is just awesome!

A beautiful and calm place to stay. Its a perfect place to enjoy your weekend. Staffs are very polite and service is very good.

Nice sirin place, if any one wants to pass some quality time with nature must go place. A bit far way from centre but this place is also close to famous Sonajhurir Hat.

Calm and peaceful place it is. It feels very nice to embrace the nature so close. Service is also very good, they always take care of their guests. But the room we got was average and bed cleanliness is also not upto the mark. The room doesn't have lock-and-key type locking facility so I felt a bit insecure, but that is my opinion. Overall it's worth staying here.

It's actually pretty awesome to stay at such a heritage type of property which is enclosed with rush green trees and nature. Loved every part of our stay here.

They have categorised their type of rooms ino mud house, marble house, brick house etc. From the name itself you may get the feeling of the property.

Part i liked-
- Infant friendly (kids can play around the property).
-very good staff, you ask for that and you get that.
- Rooms are big and has proper balcony and clean big washrooms with bath tubs.
-proper car parking inside the property itself.
-fast internet and smart tv (if you have kids then awesome). Modems are in the room so it's fast.

Highly recommended for group of friends, families. Must visit & experience

The Garden Bungalow is a beautiful property with huge and charmingly furnished rooms. The furniture is largely antique. There is a big, beautifully maintained garden which recalls the Shantiniketan of the past when there was space to walk, breathe the fresh air and wake up to birdsong and glorious sunrises. The food is unpretentious but tasty. The service is extremely polite and obliging. Don't expect the polish of posh hotels, but enjoy the warmth of friendly service. I had many questions about unusual destinations, and they always made it a point to find out the correct information. Ananya who manages the everyday running of the hotel is very capable while being friendly and forthcoming.

Location is beautifully decorated and maintained. Best for a photoshoot. But the rooms were out of amenities. A day trip is good only.

This is our second trip to this property and it is so beautiful that i am not going to make repetitive comments about its beauty & nature. I am mainly trying to draw the attention of the owners to the areas they need to improve urgently. First, the kitchen. The cook is good but there is only one so quick and prompt service is not available. The staffs are not well trained enough to understand the guest's needs. Wrong food is served to wrong guest without confirming.
Secondly, normal RO water is not supplied to the rooms. I booked all 4 rooms in the main building with 12 guests. But not a single bottle of r o water was available anywhere in the visibility. There was a 25ltr water drum present in the lobby though which was always empty. Every time we need to ask for a glass of water.
Thirdly, the security. This is a big issue if you book the white building entirely. The main door doesn't lock. It is always open, even at the night.
Fourthly, even if you book the white property fully, you are not entitled to use the lobby. We cannot take out chairs from the rooms to sit together in the lobby. And another thing, please replace your couch opposite to the biggest mirror, it is broken. The furniture placed above it, is also dangerous for whoever uses this couch.

The rooms are very good, spacious and aesthetically decorated. The infrastructure is also decent. Only issue is the location which is deep inside a colony with tiny roads. The service is poor to be honest. For the price you pay it is not worth it. Also the food is not tasty at all.

It was a nice stay. People can spend some peaceful time from their regular hectic schedule. Food is good but Verity is less. I asked for a thermometer but they don't have any first-aid which is not at all expected. Well if you are going with your family or anyone who is medically not fit need to think twice as there is no store nearby. To purchase every single thing you need to visit market which is quite far from the venue. But for nature lover this place is like a heaven. You can see variety of trees and all are maintained Welly.

The Garden Bungalow owns my heart and soul. This is the only hotel I stay while visiting Bolpur which is quite often I must say.
The standard rooms are my favourites. Though the main building gives you a different vibe of royalty.

It was a great experience to stay here. It has an exquisite ambiance. Rooms are too spacious and clean. Staff are much active and warm hearted. Fully enjoyed my vacation here

It was out and out an amazing experience. The property is just mind-blowing. All the staffs are eager to help and will go out of their way to put a smile on your face. Would love to come back once again!

Never opt for lunch or dinner as the rates are high and the food quality is not worth the price. They served us lunch at 3.00 pm so of course no sense of time. The WI-FI service was available for only one day. The TV was not working due to non recharge of TATA SKY. There were earth worms in bathroom!

We were really looking forward to our stay at the garden bungalow looking at the website but the actual experience was a HORRIFIC!
while the garden is beautiful and staff helpful maintenance is a big problem
There are mosquitoes at any time of the day (which is not the case in the rest of bolpur)
bathroom fittings are broken tiling is uneven with risk of tripping and the walls have peeled off plaster with dust and cobwebs on the furniture. We pointed this out to the caretakers and they called the owner who was living there.she and her son both seemingly well educated and fluent in English came charging at night instead of giving us a hearing they turned extremely aggressive and hostile. When we requested that we explain we were told we are "not allowed to speak". The landlady curtly told us itne paise main itna hi milega.what shocked us is that she began shouting and asked us to leave immediately.it was 9 or 10 pm and we were asked to leave a property that was fully paid for with our young children who had fallen asleep hungry.fortunately her volume disturbed some other guests who spoke to her in Bangla and managed to calm her down.

The menu is limited and food is average in quality. Besides maintenance numerous areas of cutting corners make the stay a struggle. Handwashing soap is diluted, bottled water (from an unheard of brand) is provided after repeated requests,

We spent the rest of our stay keeping out of the property and hence out of the way of our hostess for most part of the day, which was good because bolpur has a lot to offer!

if you do book this make sure to keep a backup plan for a midnight uproar:)

Pleasant stay and homely feel. Great and polite staff. Spacious rooms. Poetic retreat and king's chamber can accommodate 4 people easily, each.
They are on ground floor of the main building.
Greenery all around and the place feels like you are seating in the lap of nature.
Food quality could have been better- tough it depends on individual's taste.
Worth staying. All thumbs up!

It's like a normal guest house. Not luxurious AT ALL. Run of the mill govt guest house like feel. Food is just ok. Garden is nice

This is a very good place to stay.it is clean, hygienic.and the staff service is really very good and dignified.we were very relaxed and rejuvenated while staying there. I would recommend a must stay. And the quality of food is really really good and you are always served with fresh food.
