Don't trust the stupid youtubers, who have no sense of taste or quality. Find the nearest dosa corner in your gali mohalla, it will be 100 times better than this over hyped shack.
Just pathetic quality food. Super dilute sambar with no taste at all. Dosa aloo, as if cooked for convicts in prison.
People who call this place good either have no sense of good food or food was never their agenda.
God knows how APJ Abdul Kalam ate this food! Anyways he was anything but a foodie.
No curry leaves in sambar, no mustard seeds, no hing, no tamarind. How does it qualify as sambar.
Discovering Rao’s Udipi Home was like finding an oasis in the desert. If you are craving South Indian cuisine then this humble abode is the place for you. Crisp and fluffy vada, perfectly steamed idly with wonderful sambar, and poori masala were all excellent. But most importantly South Indian style filter coffee that you crave to start your day! Prices were very reasonable, service prompt, and the footpath breakfast dining became a morning ritual. Highly recommend.
Best Idlli & coconut chutney I have ever had. Filter coffee is also very good. Overall a good southindian eaterie. Only thing is that they don't have any ac facilities.
A good place and decent prices where we get quick food and hygienic items. We liked the cheese dosas and Rawa Masala dosas and fresh watermelon juice too
They serve quite good food, it tastes fresh and tasty, their chutneys are amazing and service is quite fast, everything about the place is good, if they have had AC, i would have given it 5 star.
Food tasty. Service good. Personally nothing against the price. If in doubt about any food item just ask to get an idea of what it is. Atmosphere wonderful. If you feel cramped, can simply choose other seating options
Nice and cozy old fashioned decorated place for delicious south indian food.price on lower side and quality on higher side compared to other south indian outlets present nearby.must try their filter coffee, dosa, vada etc.
Food was delicious specially the chutney they serve is tasty.the atmosphere over there gives a pure South Indian vibes. The restaurant is non AC so avoid it during heated summer
One of the best places to have South Indian Delicacies in Southern Kolkata. They serve piping hot Vadas, idli and Dosas with two types of Chatni and Sambhar.
Been visiting the place from a young age.a lot of nostalgia mixed with memories of quality south Indian food. Food quality is unmatched and hasn't changed over the years. Good value for money
It's a very nice and cosy place for chilling out with family and friends. It's very renown and running since 1968. The Authentic taste of South Indian food
South Indian preparation is really good. Filtered coffee is not upto the Mark, it may be improved. In winter arranging chairs and tools outside on footpath is added attraction for me, it gives the impression of sitting under the sky. We has idly, bada and coffee.
Morning breakfast with hot steaming idlis and strong filter coffee is amazing. Rava dosa is also very good. The sambhar is very authentic with aromatic flavour.
Awesome food. If you like South Indian food then this is The place to visit. Beat part is the quality of food is very good. You will understand the moment you experience their consistency and texture of the Chutney, softness of Idli and crunchy well cooked Vada.
Classic taste of South Indian dishes like Dosa, Idli. Nice place to hang out. Not very good, but average one. If you have low budget, you can definitely try this place.
Visited for the first time to enjoy the authentic South Indian dish, but returned with horrible experience. I have ordered only 2 paper masala dosa. First of all they served the order almost after 40 minutes in spite of having only a handful of customer available at that time in the evening. Secondly they served cold food to us. After that they didn't serve the entire item along with my ordered dishes and when asked to serve simply told that not available and what is available they can serve only that and I have to adjust with that and yes I have to pay full amount with applicable taxes. We were sitting upstairs and they simply serve the food and didn't come back again to ask if we required anything more or not? I had to go downstairs twice to ask them to serve some extra Sambhar or chutney even after waiting for 10 minutes for the waiter to come. The vegetable inside the dosa and the chutney was too salty. The preparation is worst and the serving plates and other utensils are also not cleaned properly or I can say simply dirty particularly at a time when the most of the restaurant are taking extra care keeping in mind the Covid19 pandemic situation. They didn't serve drinking water to the us and seeing their cleanliness status I was simply terrified to ask for that. So after having half eaten dosa we left the horrible udipi home. The so called manager is a least bothered person as far as the services to the customers are concerned, least interested in paying attention towards the customers and their needs. As far as rating is concerned Udipi home is not at all eligible for single star rating but I have to give single star only to post my review. The cost of two paper masala dosa is ₹280/-
Small place probably a renovated garage. Good for South Indian snacks and coffee. We were there at about 4 PM, it was hot and the air conditioning was inadequate. I am told that the al fresco arrangement in the evening is much more appealing.
I visit a nearby pet care and this place has become a mandate place for dosa and tea for me and my sis.best staffs, behaviour absolutely perfect.they'll make you feel comfortable.
You can choose whether to sit inside or upstairs or outside for open air. Just ask them to set some chairs for you and they'll do it right away without any question.
End up going back to the place everytime for their south indian filter coffee.even their south indian menu items are always my go to for a quick breakfast.prices are very reasonable when compared to the other breakfast joints all around.
A small hotel that serves South Indian Food.compared to other Hotels that serve South Indian Food in Kolkata they are not that expensive. Good tasty food.
Food was okay for me, the coffee and tea were good. Had some Idly's and Rava dosa. It tastes more like Andhra Cuisine. People from Andra will love it. But Keralites and Tamils better find another place.
Just love the place. There is nothing served here which is not delicious. It's awesome. Do try rava masala dosa and idly vada dipped in sambar. And in summers go for watermelon juice. It's as fresh as it can be. And if ure a coffee lover then try out the filter coffee it's superb.
We visit this place often, as we liked the food. But today they broke our trust. We asked for dahi vada, and at first they said its not available, later said its there. We parcelled 3 plates (and one was packed for someone else, imagine what they must be thinking of us!). When we came home and opened it, it was stinking! We still tried a pinch and realized how badly stale it was! Is this the way you treat your customers, regular or irregular? ! Just cause we didn’t eat there itself you decided to cheat on us? ! I don’t think I will ever eat from your place and also would never recommend your place again. Cheaters!
Fyi, sambar was salty, juice was pale, I couldn’t even understand what was the green chutney made of. Horrible experience!
Even though the food has been consistently good for years, the quality control isn't. Most of the times I've found dead insects in the sambar and even after repeated complains, there seems to be no improvement at all. Well, if you love insects, you will find the sambar quite tasty!
A nice place for some filter coffee and south Indian dishes. The staff were quite friendly which would want you to come back again. Tried bada and uttapam other than filter coffee and the food was quite good. It was quite oily though. The chutneys were nice as well.
