I went there with a lot of expectations and excitement, but i was really disappointed.
First of all the food was pretty pretty average for the price they are charging and the portions are also very less. Yes i understand its a 5star hotel and things will be pricey, but neither the quality nor the quantity was upto the mark. If you are charging so much please increase the quantity and to be very honest I have had much better pork ribs and lobster in Kolkata.
The ambience or interior was also pretty average. For such a high end resteraurnt the entire dining area looked very bland and old designed. The interrior should be much better.
The only good thing was the bakery counter in the ground floor. The cakes were amazing.
Overall i wouldn't recommend this resteraurnt for Chinese cuisine in Kolkata unless they better themselves. There are many other options like Asia Kitchen available for fine dining with Chinese cuisine.
Giving them a 5/5. Everything was superb! We had a small party of 5 and Roushan made it possible for us to have the best time there. He was patient and gentle in taking our rather super customized orders along with curing up some fancy customized cocktails! Would love to be back!
Excellent food. The cuisine is substantial and of notably high calibre for the time of year. Absolutely excellent meal. It's worthwhile even if it can be expensive, and different nights have different deals, so it's recommended seeking them up before making a reservation.strongly advised. Both the service and cleaning departments require improvement.very recommended
Was a very disappointing dinner at Vintage Asia last night! The food the first time came completely cold & we had to send it back & then when they got it back it was thankfully hot but the egg fried rice, veg Hakka and the lamb had no taste or flavour. The lamb was too tough also! The fish was also so so and the only dish that was good was the veg stir fry. Truly not good you expect from a 5 star hotel where the food is quite expensive. Will not return here to eat as there are much better Asian / Chinese options in the city!
It was birthday yesterday and my partner decided that he wantsu me to treat him at Vintage Asia. So he booked a table for 2 at 8: 30 pm. He was asked by the restaurant reservation lady if there was a special occasion and he mentioned “it’s my wife’s birthday” Next we arrive at the restaurant, the guy at the front desk greets us and shows us in. We sat down and started looking at the menu. Someone pops up immediately for the food order. We tell him to allow us sometime. After 10 minutes we order 2 drinks - one whisky sour & 1 martini. They both were great. However while the guy served the drinks we told him to send someone for the food order. Remind you, it was 30-40 minutes by then and no one bothered to come for our food order. My husband called for the nearest employee and told him about the issues after 40minutes have passed. The restaurant wasn’t that crowded to make the employees forget about our existence. Next we place our food order and the food arrives fast. The highlight were the prawn & chives dimsum, burnt creme & the nigiri sampler platter. The fried calamari was way too oily for a 5 start restaurant. However I would want to mention about one staff here, her name is Remrem, she is smart and professional but lacks communication skills a lot. We had a very hard time explaining to her that we were looking for dry diced chicken item with lots of chillies but without sesame. All she heard was “rice” and then sent a a manger. I told her, I don’t need a plate, still she gave me a plate, I told her “not” to light the candle, still she did it. I told her I want regular water but she kept on asking me if I want in-house water or packed water. I really don’t know what exactly does she understand. Coming back to the dry chicken item, we asked the restaurant staff if they can make the chicken item without sesame, they said “No”. Having worked with big brands like Oberoi & ITC I know that if the customer requests for a modification in an item, that can be done, but here it seemed like there is no room for negotiation.
Also, all this time NOT A SINGLE person wished me when the booking was done on the pretext of my birthday & it was mentioned when the booking was confirmed. A wish would have made a lot of difference.
Overall the service was way too bad The food was ok given the price point.
Luxury is served here in an amazingly humble way. The ambience of the restaurant is exquisite. I rarely give 5 stars but this place deserves it for both food and services. The restaurant is meant to bring the best of East Asian cuisines on your platter. We started with the Siu Mai. It had a good blend of textures (recommended with soy). It was served with crisp fried kaju which tasted really great. This was followed by a lobster, fried with butter and garlic, which ended up becoming my favourite; creamy with a lingering taste of butter. Then came the beverages. Petal talk and exotica were both great and refreshing but you should order them in the beginning (and not in the middle, like us). For the main course we decided to go with black miso ramen and Nabeyaki Udon. The tempura was crisp and delicious. We asked our desserts to be packed to go. Now this is where service of the highest order was delivered. The chef customised the desserts so that it wouldn't melt much. I came back home several hours later and the desserts hadn't melted even in this absurdly hot weather. The dessert was one of the best I've ever had. Marriott definitely gave us a memorable time.
The name tells about this place itself. Everyone will definitely love the food here. This is a truly place for Asian fusion lovers. I really loved the food, ambience and staff, definitely recommend to the people who loves the Asian food. Staffs are really good and helpful
There quality of food is very good but service a bit slow although the staffs are very professional and polite. But I don't like their dessert so much and they don't have so many varieties in dessert either.
Honestly there is a great sense of class when you are experiencing the cuisines and the services.i have been to various great places to try out the food but this is the place you want to stop and enjoys the delicacies
Poor quality food and service. We went there for lunch and the food tasted stale. Dumplings were good but that’s it. All items from chicken to mutton to fish tasted the same and you can tell they have been made with the same base like how you get Chinese at a cheap restaurant. At the end of all that, you pay a fortune. The running joke was, we had the most expensive dumplings in the world as everything else tasted sub standard for the price we paid.
This is an Asian restaurant in the jw Marriott. The ambience is good but the food is mediocre but overpriced. We ordered xian lao bao which is supposed to have soup inside but found to be dry; Shanghai chicken dumplings were spicy but edible, vegetable sushi was ok but had mayo on top that overwhelmed the taste whereas rainbow roll unlike standard rainbow roll everywhere in the world was not crunchy since completely uncooked and had tasteless salmon and hamachi that I think are of lowest quality I had in a long time, the udon noodle soup whatever they call it was decent for a change. The lamb slices were spicy and not the one you would want to pay to eat. Worst of all- for all of the above and despite the 20000 bill for 4 adults and 3 kids - the service was awful. Polite stuffs but hugely incompetent, though seemed quite a few waiters were there service was abysmally slow. The chef needs to change in this place. And like most places I found in Kolkata there are too many people try to ooze you by buttering up but actual substance, speed of service and quality of service is well below sub par.
I had celebrated my Birthday last night at Vintage Asia. Had booked the private dinning area, the Prompt service throughout provided by Arpan, & another server who’s name I didn’t really get was impeccable. They were both so helpful in suggesting us options & saw to it that our glasses were never empty for long. The food prepared by Chef Gopal was absolutely mind blowing, everything we ordered from starters to Dessert was packed with flavour & cooked with so much care. My friends & I were there from 7pm to 12am (I think), & not once were we rushed up to complete & leave soon like most restaurants do for their next booking. This will always be remembered as the best Birthday ever as it was so much fun & Vintage Asia staff helped make it even more special for me. Thank you so much for your 5 star service as always.
Food was good. A mix of Thai and Chinese cuisine. Taste is good however not exactly similar to real Thai. Ambience is welcoming and staff is courteous. They couldn't serve beer due to unavailability was the spoiler.
Another Hat up to the JW Kolkata team, the Vintage Asia gave me another great experience of Chinese Indian fusion cuisine. The open kitchen concept gave us a little show to see while having the meals. Vintage Asia is high-end level of Chinese restaurant in Kolkata which meals are presented very well, service are more personally, the ambience is very fantastic with many touch of Chinese decoration, and very courteous/helpful staff. The food is wordless, just amazing taste and well presented. I was amazed with the chicken satay which is served on personal grill on the table. I named it 5 star chicken satay. Thank you for the great experiences. It was a WOW effect for me from JW Kolkata team.
Food was authentic Thai. Prawn satay, Fried rice and the coconut icecream were excellent. Farhana among the staff was very caring and made us feel at home
Great ambiance, great food. True authentic asian cuisine experience at the heart of Kolkata. A must try out for all. Special highlight was gai yang chicken.
Good cuisines with nice ambience in one word awesome experience. Cuisines of this restaurant represent the Asia i.e. Truly Asia. This restaurant has low sitting capacity and wheelchair parking. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible restaurant. Double for the superb restaurant. #vegetarian #nonvegetarian #wheelchairaccessible #freewifi #letsguide #babyfriendly
